The countryside school we visited was definitely different from anything I've seen before. It wasn't in it's best condition. However, I noticed that economic issues didn't prevent the students and teachers from doing their jobs the right way. The students were very respectful and attentive, always following rules and directions. They spent several hours more than we do taking classes, and I think in terms of education that's pretty good. Overall I thought that the process of their education in that school was really good considering the fact that they don't have the best tools for learning. It was a good experience to see the differences between those students and ourselves.
Dear students,
Thank you for allowing us to share this wonderful experience with the school. It was great meeting such great people. The students were friendly, polite, and respectful to us. You guys made us feel like home. We had lots of fun, playing basketball, singing, dancing, and listening to music. It as a great experience and it couldn't have happened without the students. I really hope to come back to China one day, and that you guys can come to America. I will never forget you guys, ever. Let all your dreams come true. Please don't forget about us because we will always remember you. You will always be in my heart. Zai Jian.

Visiting the countryside was a challenge for me and some of my peers. It was very different from the schools in America. I'm used to things being more modernized and sometimes I still complain. These students don't have as much as they should, but they are still appreciative of their education. My experience was pleasant and I feel that the students weren't annoyed by our presence. The students were interested in where we came from in America. Also, I was interested in their culture.
The experience at the farm wasn't one I was used to. I never farmed before but it was fun. I learned about when was the right time to prune the plants and hoeing from the earth. The students and staff made my time on the countryside pleasant and they made it an experience I will never forget.

When we went to the countryside, I felt as if it was a big reality check because in America, as a whole, we were not use to the type of conditions that were being lived in. It was a big reality check for us to be thankful for what we have and not to take it for granted because there are more that are living worse than we are. However, the students and staff were wonderful. They treated us with a lot of respect and made us feel very comfortable with our stay at the school. I was very thankful and I thank them so much!

Going to the county has been a good experience not only for me, but for all of us. We learned many new things in the farm. The students were really nice. They showed me how to speak Chinese. I taught them how to dance, and I showed them American money and they seemed really interested. The food was really good. I actually ate a lot. I hope I come back soon. I felt really welcomed here.

Going to the countryside was one experience I will never forget. I was told many things about the countryside. I expected the countryside would be challenging, but when I got there, I immediately found that it was not. I felt more welcomed in the countryside than I do in America. The students there were so nice. They were willing to do anything for us. Knowing that us being there made them happy. I had fears about being black in China. When I was in the countryside, I got many stares. I felt it odd that they never seen a black person before. Though that awkwardness was present, it did not ruin my stay at the countryside. I had tons of fun with the students there. I made new friends. If I ever have a chance to go back in the future, I will definitely go.
