A diary of a day
Friday, June 24
Today, we went to a county called Xing Long in He Bei Province. The local government gave us a really warm welcome. The county mayor held a meeting yesterday and informed different departments to get ready for it. They did a lot for this, especially the school. They held a very big ceremony to welcome us. I feel very funny but I also feel very comfortable and very happy. We are going to stay here for 3 more days. Tomorrow we're getting to know the plants they've been growing. And tomorrow afternoon we're selling those plants and the money we earned will be given to the local school. On the bus I talked a lot with a girl called Liang Suni. She is a Chinese American girl. She moved to America with her parents when she was only three. Because I've been speaking English a lot, I am used to think in English and speak in English now. And my English improved a lot.
Saturday, June 25
It's really a happy day! We learned to plant Bonzai this morning and we were selling them this afternoon. I've been feeling very happy. We went to the Bonzai foundation by bus after breakfast. First we learned some knowledge about Bonzai from a teacher and we got to know that there were many kinds of Bonzais. They are classified into different groups according to the shapes of the plants 、 the material and so on. Then we learned how to grow a Bonzai. It has several steps. We learned it and then we did it. And we succeeded in growing quite a few Bonzais. They looked so beautiful and I liked them very much. My students gave them different names, such as Green Dreem 、 Friendship and so on. I felt very happy today. I felt happy when I touched the soil. I felt that I was touching the nature I loved when I was holding the soil.
