Mrs. Susan Cannon is an American teacher with over 25 years of classroom experience in elementary, middle, and high school. She earned a Master's degree in Education from Harvard University . She is currently teaching high school history, English and oral English at the Episcopal Academy, a college preparatory independent school near Philadelphia .

When talking about her teaching philosophy, Susan said: "I have a strong commitment to enhancing the critical thinking and moral development of my students in advisory and classes in English, history and debate. I aim to create an atmosphere in which my students feel safe to risk expressing opinions and fully participating; therefore, I strive to make my classroom a place in which people respect the ideas and beliefs of others and actively listen to each other. Knowing that each student has individual learning strengths and weaknesses, I create learning opportunities in which students may improve their current skills and develop higher levels of knowledge. I try hard to help students become more aware of how they learn best, and to help them develop new ways to learn! I want to inspire students to think about important issues, care about solving problems, and taking positive action to change the world for the better!"

Mrs. Susan Cannon used different artifacts including pictures, greeting cards from her American students to teach the students English, and she also sang songs in English with the students. These activities served as ice breakers to create warm and friendly atmosphere for the students and teachers to put their uneasiness and fear aside. At the end of the day, many students came to Mrs. Cannon to talk to her, and thanked her for her unforgettable presentation. Some surrounded her to get an autograph.
