Project developments:
- In Dec. 1999, the Phelex Foundation and the Overseas Chinese
Tea Business Foundation donated RMB 30,000 to set up "OCTB/Phelex
Tea Farm" for Hulupen Elementary School.
- In 2000, 28 poor pupils and 6 teachers received total
amount of RMB 4,000 of financial aid from the proceeds of
the program.
- In 2001, the farm experienced drought, insect pests, and
market recession. In addition, the original tea-making technician
left this project school. For these reasons, the school
only processed the tea leaves for itself and cannot purchase
tea leaves to process. Therefore, the proceeds was only
RMB 1,000.
- In the spring of 2002, the tea farm was repaired and fertilized. The school reinforced the financial and production management after personnel adjustment.
- In Oct. 2002, the program offered RMB 1, 650 tuition assistance fund. The tea farm was gradually run under standardization.
- In 2003, the tea farm earned RMB 11, 898.2 , funded tuition fees to all needy pupils in the school.
