Project developments:
- In Jan, 2000, the Kasumisou/Phelex Apricot Base Program
for Bayan Tala Middle School started with a total donation
amount of RMB 110,000 including Direct Tuition Aid Fund
of RMB 10,000. Also, the program had received local government
supportive fund of RMB 15,000 and local public donation
of RMB 3,500.
- The program includes 650 mu apricot and 50 mu
saplings.
- In 2001, the program produced 500,000 apricot saplings
and 50 mu broomcorn.
- In 2001, The program income nearly reached ? 100,000 Yuan, including ? 30,000 Yuan from sapling sales, ? 70,000 Yuan from Chinese ephedra seeds (ma huang zi) sales.
- In the spring, 2002, no any proceeds from apricot and sapling nursery because of rare snow calamity. The earning from Chinese ephedra seeds reduced.
- In 2003, the production of apricot and sapling was little, Chinese ephedra seeds market was decreasing. A difficult situation confronted the tuition aid program; the school was seeking for ways out.
