Facts about school:

This school is located among the mountain areas where Jiangxi Province, Zhejiang Province and Anhui Province have a common boundary. Approx. 370 km from Nanchang. Local main crops are the tea and rice. Due to financial difficulties, the drop-out rate was 33 in 2000 and 33 in 2001 and half of them were schoolgirls.

Facts about project:

In 2002, the Phelex Foundation helped the school set up the green tea processing farm.

Project developments:

In Nov., 2001, local government ceded 350 square meter lands at no cost for house.
In April, 2002, local government ceded 13.2 acres of the tea garden for this project and local Community Council was set up.
In Aug., 2002, the tea-process machines were brought and installed. The 13.2 acres of the tea garden were meliorated.
In Sep., 2002, the school children received the notebooks and stationeries donated by Shanghai volunteers.
.In 2003, the newly built green tea factory produce an income of RMB 11, 000 . The school remade the tea garden in the end of the year.
In 2004, the school drew more attention from local communities and society, acquired more resource support. The school repaired some school buildings and purchased some teaching equipment.
In 2004, with businesses' technical help the school gradually altered tea tree species in order to suit the e export needs of main local tea businesses, this temporarily influenced the implementation of the tuition aid plan but good proceeds were expecting after 2 years.
